A panel discussion was held before the awards ceremony to give a perspective on the concept of ‘disruption’ created by brands and its significance in the market. Disruptor of the Year in the Automobile category was given to Hero MotoCorp for their campaign ‘Feel the Josh’ and Disruptor of the Year in CSR category was awarded to Hindustan Unilever for their campaign ‘Haath Munh Bum’. Powered by Hello FM and presented by Advertising Club Madras, the award is aimed at encouraging the work done by small and medium enterprises. The club is looking for entries across categories of work released during the year 2015. The last date for the entries is March 23, 2016. » Twitter celebrated its 10th birthday on March 21st by sending its users a Love & Thank you mail. Prior to this Twitter expanded its reach by updating its universal Windows app to support desktops and tablets and launched its app for Windows 10 smartphones. Mobile Literacy

PTI9_7_2014_000161BTelecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad launched Disha mobile app which aims to spread digital literacy through self – learning modules. The app is free and is available on Google Play Store. A handbook having pictographic lessons prepared by Common Service Centres will also be released. The book has been designed to ensure that anyone with little or no digital literacy can also learn using this book. » Facebook is looking to tap the rising enthusiasm of the Indian online shoppers by launching a shopping festival named ‘Tied Together’ on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. The plan involves setting up a website in association with media agency conglomerate GroupM between August 12 and August 29. Facebook’s role will be to use its subscriber base and social networking platform to drive traffic to the shopping sites. » Twitter’s Dick Costolo’s been mulling the idea of stepping down from the board since his exit from the CEO slot. According to sources, he will make an exit by the end of the year. Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal had earlier published reports about a possible board shakeup, while Twitter continues to decline to comment.

This account is officially no longer @RushdieExplains” renaming himself as @IndiaExplaind. » Bloomberg reports, an Irish company called Probendi, who owns the ‘iWatch’ trademark in Europe, has filed a legal challenge in a Milan court to protest Apple’s use of the term in its ads. » Following Facebook and Pinterest, Google experiments to add ‘Buy’ button method to feature ‘Purchases on Google’ allowing smartphone users to make online purchases from search results.

The show will not only attempt to decode some of India’s biggest corporate and financial deals with discussion and analysis around funding, mergers & acquisitions but also feature business leaders under the spotlight. » It seems that the MIB is ready to start auctions for Phase III as it released important documents pertaining to the impending on its website. These include the migration Grant of Permission Agreement (GOPA) for new applicants and Wireless Planning & Coordination (WPC) Wing license. » Hinduja Group christens its Headend-In-The-Sky (HITS) service as ‘NXT Digital’. The NXT Digital service will now broadcast via satellite. The biggest draw for the network owner is the low comparative capital investment and additional revenue opportunity through VAS services – something, which has not been possible with DTH.
